What an awesome post… I just used your logic to respond to my friend’s Epicurus quote:

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”

God is perfectly GOOD and therefore does not inflict evil. God CAN be evil, but it is not in his nature to do so. he CAN prevent evil but it’s up the the evil-doer to comply (hence: free will).

I loved Blue Like Jazz! That part of the story really touched me. I think showing humility is an effective method of evangelism.

i totally agree. God told us to rule over, so we should definitely take care of the earth. but i like how you talked about priority, is it really supposed to be number one one our to do list, dominating social and moral issues, no.

Not sure if you’ve read Blue Like Jazz. But Chapter 11, “Confession”, relates the story of this kind of Christian confessional at Reed College. The idea isn’t new, then. But I think there really isn’t a precedent for it in the Bible. Jesus never apologized. Peter and Paul didn’t apologize.

Apologetics, on the other hand, or apologetic evangelism may be what this generation really needs. Still, inasmuch as Awakening is out on the streets proclaiming Christ, whatever their method, I praise God for them!

Hi Will — I was looking online for something on the 3 kinds of loves and found this funny and relevant blog article:

I love how the author applies the 3 loves into a “love triangle” that is right or scalene and constantly changing.
